Helping the Next Generation

I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old, Which we have heard and known, And our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children, Telling to the generation to come the praises of Jehovah, And his strength, and his wondrous works that he hath done. For he established a testimony in Jacob, And appointed a law in Israel, Which he commanded our fathers, That they should make them known to their children; That the generation to come might know them, even the children that should be born; Who should arise and tell them to their children, That they might set their hope in God, And not forget the works of God, But keep his commandments, And might not be as their fathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation, A generation that set not their heart aright, And whose spirit was not stedfast with God. Psa. 78:2-8

Train up a child in the way he should go, And even when he is old he will not depart from it. Prov. 22:6

Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; But the rod of correction shall drive it far from him. Prov. 22:15

Withhold not correction from the child; For if thou beat him with the rod, he will not die. Prov. 23:13

The rod and reproof give wisdom; But a child left to himself causeth shame to his mother. Prov. 29:15

The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; And he that begetteth a wise child will have joy of him. Prov. 23:24

Wherewith shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to thy word. With my whole heart have I sought thee: Oh let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy word have I laid up in my heart, That I might not sin against thee. Blessed art thou, O Jehovah: Teach me thy statutes. Psa. 119:9-12
