Wait For It!

Wait For It

There is a great evil that exists and that evil is the tongue. The prophet James said, the tongue is a “restless evil, it is full of deadly poison” (Jam. 3:8), i.e., a member of the body that will not be restrained. However, Solomon said, there is “a time to keep silence, and a time to speak” (Eccl. 3:7). The actions of keeping silent, and speaking are in a constant state of turmoil. There are times when men should speak, i.e., “grant unto thy servants to speak thy word with all boldness” (Acts 4:29), and there are times when men should refrain from speaking, i.e., “He that giveth answer before he heareth, It is folly and shame unto him” (Prov. 18:13).

Man has a tendency of giving an “answer before he heareth” that we should give great attention. Although “A man hath joy in the answer of his mouth” (Prov. 15:23), much discretion should be exercised: “The heart of the righteous studieth to answer; But the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things” (Prov. 15:28). As Solomon said, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue” (Prov. 18:21). Do as the Lord told Habakkuk and “wait for it,” it will be a matter of death, or life. ret
